| Radiators turning off method |
Radiators and convectors will most often be fitted with a Hand Wheel Valve. This valve allows the radiator to be isolated from the heating circuit from which it derives its supply. The hand wheel valve is essentially and on-off device. It has a very limited capacity to regulate the water flow, so it is used fundamentally to switch off a radiator in a location when heating is not required.
A Lock Shield Valve will also be installed on each radiator.
This valve is used by the installer to balance the flow of water to each radiator. The valve must be operated using a screwdriver or special tool and is therefore not intended to be adjusted by the householder.
