Wet Type Central Heating System
A system with radiators is termed a 'wet system' because water flows from the boiler to radiators delivering the heat. A typical arrangement is shown below.

Typical wet system

Wet central heating systems may be fired by Natural Gas, Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Oil, Solid Fuel and sometimes in a very small minority of cases electricity.

System types fall into two main categories, Open Vented or Sealed.

Sealed systems will always be 'fully pumped', whereas open vented systems can be fully pumped or 'gravity primaries/pumped heating'.
